  26. 1.) Windows Screensaver Setup
  27. -----------------------------
  28. To view settings or preview the screensaver follow these
  29. instructions :-

  33.     1.) Double click 'Control Panel'
  34.     2.) Double click on 'Desktop'.
  35.     3.) Select 'The official Y2K screensaver'
  36.     4.) Click 'Test' or 'Setup...'
  37.     5.) Click Ok when finished

  41.     1.) Click on 'Start', 'Settings', 'Control Panel'
  42.     2.) Double click on 'Display'
  43.     3.) Select the 'Screen Saver' page
  44.     4.) Select 'The official Y2K screensaver'
  45.     5.) Click 'Preview' or 'Settings...'
  46.     6.) Click Ok when finished

  50. 2.) Date Problem
  51. ----------------
  52. Please make sure your  regional settings 'short date' is set up to use
  53. 4  digits for the year otherwise this screensaver and  other  programs
  54. may function incorrectly.
  55.  
  56. This may be changed via 'Regional Settings'  which can be found in the
  57. control panel.   You may need to manually enter dd/mm/yyyy in the date
  58. field.

  60. Example.  change 1/5/99 (d/m/yy) -> 01/05/1999 (dd/mm/yyyy)

  64. 3.) Colour Problems
  65. -------------------
  66. This screen  saver  looks best in a  resolution of  800 x 600  and 256
  67. colours or above.

  71. 4.) Registering Saver
  72. ---------------------
  73. To register the official Y2K screensaver  either enter your details at
  74. http://www.y2ksavers.com -  click  on the  'register'  button  in  the
  75. navigation  bar and  select your  options  or  print the  REGISTER.TXT
  76. file  from  notepad,   complete  the  form  and  fax  to  silkmoth  on
  77. +44 (0)1625 616760.  We will then send you your registration codes  by
  78. e-mail or Fax.

  80. Once you have received your  registration code,  you can  simply click
  81. on the registration button in the screen saver settings dialog box and
  82. enter  your  registration  name  in  the  space  provided,   as on the
  83. registration form (be sure to copy the name exactly as printed,  upper
  84. and lower case characters).   Now enter  the registration  code in the
  85. space provided  and click on  the (tick) button  at the bottom  of the
  86. screen.

  88. Your saver will now be registered for that level,  and all options for
  89. that level will be instantly available.

  93. 5.) Installing Scene Packs
  94. --------------------------
  95. Double  click on the scene  you wish  to  install to  start  the setup
  96. program.  After the computer checks  your system it  will show you the
  97. directory where this scene will be installed to. Click finish to 
  98. install the scene in the location given.
  99.  
  100. * If you have installed this  screen saver more than once please check
  101. that the default directory  for the scene to be installed  matches the
  102. latest installation 'Data' directory.

  104. The default is C:\POWRLOGO\Y2KSAVER
  105.

  108. 5.) Registering Scene Packs
  109. ---------------------------
  110. To register  a scene pack you  should enter the  setting screen,  then
  111. click on the  'Scenes'  button in the top right corner. This will take
  112. you to the view/register scenes page.
  113.  
  114. On the  left hand  side of  the page  you should see  the names of all
  115. installed scene packs  and on  the right  is the list of  scenes to be
  116. played.
  117.  
  118. Once you have received your registration code, you can simply click on
  119. the scene  you wish to  register,   click the  register  button in the
  120. bottom right of the page and enter your registration code in the space
  121. provided. Click on the (tick) button at the bottom of the screen.
  122.  
  123. The scene will then be registered  and will be placed in the play list 
  124. for you.

  126. NOTE : Be sure to set  up the playing  order of  scenes once  you have
  127.        more than  one  scene registered. (Random, Sequential, First
  128.        Only ).

  132. 6.) Scrolling Text Files
  133. ------------------------
  134. Once registered for  Gold you will be able  to select a  text file for
  135. the scrolling  message which appears at the bottom of the screen. This
  136. text file should be ASCII text as saved from Windows 'Notepad'  or DOS
  137. 'Edit' programs.  If creating this  text  file in  other programs e.g.
  138. a word processor  please make  sure you save  in ASCII TXT (Text File) 
  139. format.

  143. 7.) Splash Screen
  144. -----------------
  145. Once registered for gold you will  be able to replace the silkmoth plc
  146. splash screen  ( the image which is displayed  just before the  screen
  147. saver starts ) with your own graphic file.
  148.  
  149. This file must be in Windows BITMAP (BMP) format, but can be any size.
  150.  
  151. A size around 300 x 200 pixels using 256 colours looks best. Please be
  152. aware that your clients  may have a low resolution (640 x 480) display
  153. setup.

  156.  
  157. 8.) Un-install the official Y2K screen saver
  158. -------------------------------------------
  159. To uninstall this saver, you should :-
  160.  
  161.     1). Delete the 'DATA' directory you entered when you installed the
  162.         official Y2K screensaver.  (Default = C:\POWRLOGO\Y2KSAVER).
  163.  
  164.     2). Delete  the  file  called  'Y2KSAVER.SCR'  from  your  Windows
  165.         directory.  (Default C:\Windows).
  166.  
  167. That's it...
  168.  
  169. The saver installs other files  in  your  'Windows\System' directory,
  170. which are as follows :-
  171.  
  172.   WING.DLL      WinG API DLL.
  173.   WING32.DLL    WinG 32-bit Thunks etc.
  174.   WINGDE.DLL    WinG DIB Engine.
  175.   WINGDIB.DRV   WinG DIB Driver.
  176.   WINGPAL.WND   WinG palette change monitoring task.
  177.   DVA.386       Direct Video Access VxD.
  178.   TRANSBLT.DLL  32-bit transparent blit DLL

  181. These files are 16 bit graphics drivers which may have already been 
  182. installed and required by other programs, so do not delete them.
